Climate change visualization

Future Avoided Cost Explorer (FACE)

Client: Colorado DHSEM and CWCB

Team Lead: Lynker Technologies (Boulder, CO) | 2020

This ground-breaking climate change visualization tool helps Colorado decision-makers evaluate and prioritize adaptive strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change on their communities. The tool’s web-based interactive dashboard was developed by Lynker Intel’s Boulder office and is powered by ESRI Story Maps.

LVBrown Studios digital illustrations tell the story of climate change across three environmental hazards—flood, fire and drought—across three landscape settings—mountain, plains, and foothills. The scenes depict current conditions and two future scenarios—No-action 2050, and Resilient 2050—focusing on economic impacts to agriculture, recreation, and property and infrastructure.

The project was led by the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) and the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
