Honey Creek Headwaters Restoration at Konkel Park

Client: City of Greenfield & Reukert & Mielke

Greenfield, WI | 2022

LVB assisted R&M’s project engineers refine the landscape architectural and river and wetland restoration design of Honey Creek through Konkel Park in Southeast Wisconsin.

Conceptual plan renderings illustrate the vision to restore the impaired creek and parts of the headwater wetland complex while expanding flood capacity, groundwater recharge, and passive recreational access.

Numerous grant sources helped fund the project, including Sustain Our Great Lakes (SOGL), Wisconsin Coastal Management, Fund for Lake Michigan, and a WDNR Surface Water Grant. Local, regional, and state project partners include MMSD, SEWRPC, WDNR, Riverkeeper – Water Action Volunteers, Sweetwater Trust, and the Friends of Greenfield Parks and Recreation.

Final illustrative plans are used to support public outreach and fundraising campaigns in both print and web media including a Honey Creek project website, conference posters, and Coming-Soon Signage at the construction site.
